I decided to have some fun while I scrapped about our day at Two Creeks. So, I did it as a fairy tale. Without further ado, I present my modern day fairy tale to you.
Okay so I admit it, I am a conservation area junkie. This summer we are spending most of our free time hitting the conservation areas in our region. Once I get on the trails I feel so at peace, I think it is probably the only time I can say I feel totally peaceful within.
So since saturday was such a beautiful day, when Alan discovered another one close to home we decided to check it out. Well according to the map it looked much larger than it really was and it also showed a swimming hole. However, you would never catch me in that hole. LOL The park itself was gorgeous, with well maintained trails, campgrounds, playgrounds, picnic areas and fabulous ponds. I was intrigued by the number of children who were fishing. We had a wonderful day so I just had to scrap about it naturally
Sunday afternoon saw us heading to the fabulous Two Creeks Conservation Area in Wheatley. What a surprise it was to find that not only was it free admission but it was also the nicest one we have used so far this summer as well. We spent over 2 and a half hours on the trails there without realizing we had been so long before we returned to the vehicle. It has numerous trails, too many to cover in one day so for sure we would have to return to do the trails we missed but I have to go back again later anyway because many of the plants were just starting to bud so I want to get photos with them in full bloom.
For the camper, this area doesn’t have anything to offer though, just the trails and a nice picnic area. Still have to get my gadzillion photos printed for this day trip.
I decided to play around on the computer last night. Paint Shop Pro was trying to get the better of me, I can never let that happen so I had to stay up all night and make sure it didn’t win. This morning I am minus quite a few hairs but I won. It took me numerous reboots and few more new words to my vocabulary but I got another digital layout under my belt and Corel lost. Needless to say my computer took a few good hits.
I wonder if I am the only person who is so stubburn that they will just sit there are argue with a computer all night rather than just shut down. It is just that I hate it so much when I know that I have a good graphics accellerator, lots of ram and I know that my computer should not be giving me such a difficult time running a graphics program. I never had a problem with any of the other PSP versions, just with version XI. Everytime I do a few things it will lock up and “fail to respond”, needless to say that I NEVER fail to respond. hahahaha.
However, it is over and done with, I succeeded and managed to mangle a fairly respectable Layout which I entitled Solitude, from this bucket of nuts and bolts.
Proudly displayed here for the world to see is a page using lovely papers and elements from a kit called Forever Memories designed by Melany Violette, she has such beautiful kits. The journaling is a font called Galeforce.
As I was reading through my wonderful Scrapbook Inspirations magazine again today for about the third time since picking it up last week, my eye lingered over the same layout for a much longer period of time so I decided I must really like that layout enough to scraplift it… so I did.
I had just the photo to use to. The title would have to wait since nothing really snapped at me, but it was a photo I had been hanging onto for some time. My youngest grandson riding on the lawn tractor with his father. He was only about 2 years of age at the time and looked either quite frightened or certainly not too excited to be there. I digress… Naturally I wanted to use the photo to tell a story that wasn’t really behind the photo at all LOL.
Like any good scrapbooker I didn’t have any of the necessary supplies… of course I had everything but what I needed, and of course I didn’t let such a silly little thing like that stop me either. I plunged ahead and made my own scalloped paper, a little uneven and funny shaped but scalloped never-the-less. I even went so far as to make my own journaling tag. Such an ambitious monkey I was tonight but I will never ever let my darling husband get wind of that, he might think I want to do something more strenuous like hmmmmm cooking or something and that would never do.
Anyway, on with the tale… I now have a full 12 x 12 layout that tells a tale of a 2 year old boy seeing through a plot by his father trying to make him do a chore of cutting the lawn by trying to disguise the work with a big toy tractor……… but everyone knows BOYZ DON’T WORK and WORK IS WORK
Here is my Layout, and I think my Darling Daughter is going to laugh til she cries, my wonderful Son in Law is just gonna slap me and say “Nana, you really Lost it this time”.. then he will laugh. We all KNOW I’m nuts anyway LOL. The scan on this one didn’t work too well.
I managed to get the second half of the colour challenge finished. I have to admit though, while this one was a bit of a challenge the first part was really no challenge at all. I have no problem scrapping my favorite colours. Normally, I have no problem scrapping with any colour, this time however it was a challenge because my printer is down and I had to get permission to use photos that contained blue (most of my photos have the colour blue in them in one shade or another). Then I discovered that it wasn’t the photos I needed to worry about, they were fine with blue, it was just any of the scrapbook supplies couldn’t be blue or yellow so I was off scrapping with glee, I could do that easily then
This was my finished result.
We have been challenged to do two Layouts, one using our favourite two colours and then one without those colours. I have both Layouts done but only the one with the favourite colours photographed so far. This is my youngest grandson. My daughter took this photo last fall and he has the most darling look on his face. Seems like he saying make sure that you have this perfect Mommy.

I recently received me Summer issue of the Scrapbook and Cards Today and was thrilled to death with the issue. Packed full of so much wonderful stuff as per usual. The one thing that caught my eye as I was just doing a quick thumb through was a LO on page 33 called All Canadian Girl.
My oldest grand daughter is quite fond of My Little Pony so quite some time ago I purchased some of the My little Pony paper but so far hadn’t found any way to incorporate it into any of the layouts. The first part of June my DD sent me a photo she had taken of Theresa that I fell in love with because of the expression on her face but so far had just not gotten around to scrapping.
Well, when my eyes fell upon the layout in the SCT magazine suddenly I knew how I was going to use both the paper and the photo. They were made for each other and for that layout. For the first time in my life I actually sto… er lifted a layout to use other than one that wasn’t for a challenge. Not only did I stea… er lift one element of the Layout but I pratically sto… er lifted the Layout in it’s entirety. LOL
I don’t think mine looks quite as pretty as Susan Shoemaker’s do, the red/white always gives such a dramatic look, but I am very very pleased with my Innocence layout anyway.

I was so pleased with the way the layout turned out that I immediately had to make a card for an online friend using the same basic Layout LOL. I can post it here because I know she never visits here and don’t even know my blog exists hahahaha.

I swear that when Bill Gates first started to sell Windoze he realized that it was a nice invention but he needed to improve it. However, he didn’t want to improve it for the customer’s convenience he wanted to do it for his convenience. So the first command he gave to his coders was 1: code all programs to expand to fill all available memory. 2: code all programs to read hardware manufacture warranty expiration dates. 3: code all programs to cause hardware malfunctions after said warranty expiration dates. Thus causing enough problems to cause customer frustrations and madness and hair pulling, wallet emptying to the point of our bank account overflowing.. thus than shall I be satisfied.
He must be surely satisfied with me by now. Bhwhaaahahahaha. If I were to shine my head you could almost see yourself in my bald spots…. my wallet is so empty as to be able to use it for a cup, and my computer is making a perfect resting spot for all the other useless knicknacks I have been collecting on my desk, such as my lovely tower fan that I paid just over $69 for last summer and hasn’t worked since last summer :( Dozing, much like WinDOZE… pun definitely intended there.
Just incase you haven’t figured it out yet, my computer is busted one more time for about the third time this year and so far we have just and I mean barely entered into the second half of the year. When and if I do buy another computer system you can bet your sweet you know what’s that there will be nothing WINDOZE going on it. It will either be a totally Linux system or I will go with an Apple the next time for you can believe I am totally gone and done with the Dozey crap. One more stupid crappy error and fists are going to go through any computer that gives it to me LOL… God help dear husband’s system if it gives me one while waiting for mine to be repaired/rebuilt or what ever other stuff it is going through.. and right now the debate is on over that.
Well you can guess the arguements. Two men and one stiff necked woman debating what is going to be done to it LOL. I figure the woman is going to win considering the one man is going to have to let the woman use his while the woman is waiting for hers to be fixed. The woman is very stuburn and determined…. and it IS her computer. The other man while he knows a lot about computers is only doing the repairs/fixing or at least doing his best LOL
Yup…. the woman is gonna win those arguements garranteed!!! Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
Nowhere on my list for Sunday June 24th did I write “be attacked by a Wild turkey”, and most certainly if I had listed it, right next to it I would have listed “have husband take photos of event”. After all, these hikes on the nature trails were started because of the wonderful photo opportunities they present.
Last Sunday we decided to walk the trails at the Moore Wildlife Management Conservation Area. The mosquitoes were so thick and huge that the bug spray we use seemed to be more like desert to them rather than a repellent. When one mosquito picked up my foot and looked it over with anticipation I decided then and there it was time to turn around and head back to vehicle. Okay, I exaggerate a tad but I am sure you get my meaning.
At one point we had to walk through a field of very tall grass. It was during this part of our walk when I was suddenly frightened out of the bit of wit that I had left. If you can picture a beaten path barely wide enough for one skinny person to walk through (I am NOT skinny by any means) with the tall grass blocking your vision and suddenly this huge bird flying in your face squawking a foreign language that you have never heard before much less understand… a darn ugly bird too I must say. I didn’t need wits to realize that!
It smelled awful (at least there was a terrible smell coming from somewhere), of course I only uttered one small bloodcurdling scream while I bravely defended myself from this gigantic, ugly, bad smelling monster. After I had finally terrified it enough with that scream and blindly kicking at it and doing my “Dance Rendition” it fled through the grass. I composed myself and turned to my darling husband and asked him if he got a shot of it. Once he had stopped laughing he had the nerve to tell me he didn’t have time to get his camera out and take a photo………. the miserable man didn’t have time to get his camera out because he was toooooo busy laughing at my precadicament!!!!!!!!!!! WELL!!!!! Can you believe that, the perfect photo opportunity was right under the knuckleheads nose but he was too busy laughing????? I mean, we were there for photo ops and he lost it!!! That darn turkey stole my finger nail, bruised my knee, scratches up my leg, bruised my ego, left me traumatized…….. for NOTHING!!!!!!!!! I had nothing to show for it!!!! What a man!!! Some day I am gonna get even for that one, oh yeah, sure as shooting I am gonna get even for that one.
I had to make hay while the sun shone and at least get after shots… had to have something anyway. hehehe
So here at least are the shots of the bird that got away.

Thank you Lisa, I needed to be challenged yesterday obviously. LOL I had absolutely no ambition what so ever. I sat and looked at all my scrapping supplies but a funny thing happened - they just sat and looked back at me! I think they were a bit cranky or something because they did nothing, I mean, no desire, nothing… not even a weensy little spark.
So my husband and I went for a walk through part of the floodway, snapped a few photos… it was a perfect day for a walk. Even if I was a bit shakey from the meds. Okay, maybe I was a little more than shakey… tipsy might be a bit more the correct term. However, I was okay and quite able to function properly. SO what if I couldn’t drive, Al was doing the driving anyway and that didn’t affect my walking ability. Doesn’t really matter that I could barely walk worth crap, I got some nice photos and I got fresh air and my exercise… that is all that matters, RIGHT?
Well anyway, along comes Lisa last night and challenges me to do a Layout… 3 cardstocks, 3 PP, 3 photos, and 3 embellies with either a 3 word title or a 3 letter title, she says…. well now see to me that is a DARE. On my end a DARE is never overlooked. Some people are superstitious…….. superstitions are silly, but DAREs…….. oh you never mess with those things. Anyway, I went to work on that DARE and I used Bazzil & Prism Cardstock, as for the PP I am stumped, the floral one is Chatterbox, the striped one came in one of those boxed album kits, the one on the top that I like so much is called “melting Snow” but I can’t remember who makes it.
All the embellies are from a Colorbok kit “Possibilities” by Kolette.
